Library Mission and Vision Statements

Library Vision

Libraries in America are cornerstones of the communities they serve.  The Bryan-Bennett Library Board’s vision is to provide open access to books, ideas, resources, and information, because this is imperative for education, employment, enjoyment and self-government.  (Based on a statement adopted by the Council of the American Library Association, February 3, 1999)

Approved by the Bryan-Bennett Library Board on August 15, 2023

Library Mission

The mission of the Bryan-Bennett Library is to provide the community and general public with open and equal access to intellectual, educational and recreational resources and to promote awareness of informational services in order to meet patrons’ present and future needs.

In this effort, the Library cooperates with other libraries and educational, cultural, community and governmental agencies and institutions.

The Library Board and staff resolve to make sure that books are in the hands of the current Bryan-Bennett Library patron base and to enlarge the patron base so that anyone in this area has access to information they need and want. With respect to this objective, the Board and staff will seek out new opportunities such as cooperative agreements, outreach activities, and technological innovations that expand Bryan-Bennett Library’s ability to reach and serve more people.
