Social Media Policy
Bryan-Bennett Library’s presence on social media is intended to promote library services, materials, and programs. Social media accounts are also available to help facilitate communication between the community and the library.
When posting on social media, staff will:
- Post appropriate content, viewable for all ages
- Share information and events that are relevant for the community the library serves
- Maintain patron confidentiality regarding personal and library use information
Bryan-Bennett Library accepts public comments on their social media, however, it will be reviewed by library staff for content appropriateness.
The following content is considered inappropriate:
- Content that is obscene, discriminating, malicious, or libelous.
- Comments that harass library staff or other social media users.
- Content that has profane or obscene images or videos.
- Threatening, intimidating, or insulting content toward staff or other social media users.
- Personal attacks or accusations toward staff or other social media users.
- Postings, comments, and links that are not related to the content of the post made by library staff.
- Private and personal information of another person posted without consent.
- Advertisements, promotions, solicitations, political or religious content, or spam.
- Other content, as decided by the staff to be inappropriate.
The library recommends against posting personal information and is not responsible for any issues that may arise from sharing it.
Content involving patrons under the age of 18 will be removed, unless the library has posted pictures and have parental content.
Anyone violating this policy will result in a warning. Any subsequent violations will result in the banning of the offender from interacting with Bryan-Bennett Library social media.
Anyone who has been banned or had content deleted may appeal to this decision, in writing, to the Library Director for their consideration. Their decision is final.
